Ham and cheese love

You guys have inspired me to get into the kitchen more.

Last night, Natalie and I hosted a poker night (Texas Hold 'em). It was my first time playing poker. I picked it up quickly and was surprisingly not bad. My friend PT, who swears he doesn't know anything about cards, couldn't remember which chips were worth what, and bet even though he had NO IDEA what hand he was playing, won. He won. The whole game. When he would put down his cards, shrug sheepishly and say "Do I have anything?" and, in fact, he had a straight that trumped the rest of our two-pair, he almost got shot.

So anyway, for poker night, I made a bunch of ham and cheese rolls. Natalie was openly hostile when they were gone before the night was half-over. (I think she stays with me for my cooking.) A lot of Natalie's friends indulge in the kind of smoking I don't do, so I called the rolls Scooby-Snacks. They were a hit.

I am trying to pull it together to make one of my more fancy schmancy recipes. Maybe lemon cake, or lemon tart, or vanilla cheesecake, or OR apple pie with lemon custard. I have too many recipes and not enough free time.

Is there anything you guys would really like a recipe for? Please discuss amongst yourselves and let me know what my our next culinary adventure should be.

ps. Ever make those apple things with cinnamon whipped cream? They sound awesome, although I would use vegetable oil rather than olive oil due to olive oil's distinctive flavor. Maybe I should try those next....

Love,
Sarah
